Saul Steinberg, Galerie Maeght Saul Steinberg (1914-1999) was a illustrator and cartoonist, who once famously described himself as 'a writer who could draw'. He worked for many commercial publications in his careers, most notably for The New Yorker. He created 87 covers, 33 cartoons and 71 portfolios containing 469 drawings and several hundred other works amounting to more than 1,200 drawings in his lifelong relationship with the publication. The Galerie Maeght is a gallery of modern art in Paris that displays primarily French and Spanish artworks.
