Back to the Future (lightbox prototype advance) Price: £1,450 | Size: US Mall poster - 40"x50" | Grade: Near Mint | Year: 1985 Super rare early lightbox poster used in tiny numbers for the 1985 Chicago launch of Back to the Future - we are only aware of two other copies ever coming to the market (Cinemasterpieces have had two). This one is an advance for the film and the only variant to feature the actual release date (July 3rd) rather than 'Coming Soon to a theater near you'. Double sided posters had been in development since the 1950's but only a handful had been printed successfully (notably Zulu and Breakfast at Tiffany's) because of the difficulty of achieving perfect registration on the front and back of the paper. Technology advances made this economic in the late 80's and we saw widespread adoption of double sided posters from that point. This is an early double sided Mall poster rolled in excellent condition. It has three very small areas of tape damage at top and bottom - these are about an inch wide and only extend about a quarter of an inch into the poster. They have been professionally retouched and the poster presents as near mint/mint.
