JEFF CARTER (1928-2010). (Bored in Marree), (circa 1964). silver gelatin photograph. inscribed and stamped verso: Nearest town to Lake Eyre is Marree, seventy miles south. Bored team members sometimes came to town for a “spree”, but found it almost as quiet as the lake itself. The commercial heart of Marree consists of a hotel, post office, general store, butchers shop, garage and the railway station.
