Prestige Philately: Public Auction 149 - Tuesday 28th July 2009 (4PM AEST): 1929-30 'AIR MAIL' Overprints (SG 112-114d): Lot 2195: HARRISON PRINTING: 3d sepia-black & bright blue-green horizontal strip of 3 from the left of the sheet [11-13], the last unit with Overprint Omitted (Albino) so a second line of the overprint was applied resulting in [11-12] with Double Overprint ( Sanabria #1) and with Double Overprint One Albino, endorsed "Harrison/Print" in the margin, toning. Ex Houser : acquired for $US3220 (2001). Philatelic Foundation Certificate (1964). [A great airmail rarity that was noted by Rosenblum & by Robson Lowe at page 368, but is not listed by Gibbons ] The overprint was applied using a forme of 10 (5x2) applied four times to a sheet. On one sheet, a piece of paper obstructed the overprinting resulting in the overprint being represented on those units by a faint albino impression only. This was rectified by re-overprinting the two affected rows & this was misaligned diagonally. Only one other strip such as this could exist: this is the more interesting item because the first unit shows a trace of the letters 'AIR' from the unit below .
