Prestige Philately: Public Auction 149 - Tuesday 28th July 2009 (4PM AEST): 1911-15 Monocolours (SG 84-92w): Lot 2164: PERFORATED PLATE PROOFS IN THE ISSUED COLOURS: 2d bright mauve on ungummed unwatermarked wove paper Perf 14. Superb! Ex TS Harrison, Kelly (1972) & Pearson (private sale). The issued stamps were Perf 12½. However, in 1915 the 1d was issued Perf 14 and these proofs may indicate the proposed change of perforation for all values. Alternatively, they may have been perforation trials for the 1916 Bicolours. This and the next three items were discovered in 1972 among the effects of the Australian Stamp Printer TS Harrison. Only one other such 2d proof is recorded. Purves noted a similar 4d proof but it is unknown to current collectors.
