Walter Scott Newhall, 1860-1906, son of California pioneer, Henry Newhall (The town of Newhall north of Los Angeles was named after him), president of the California Club, built 21 Chester Place which was used in the TV series the Adams Family as the spooky mansion. Also signed by Edward A. Hall as President and H.C.Witmer as secretary, who, with Newhall, formed the Los Angeles Improvement Company mainly to develop the outskirts of the city. To aid the developement this cable line was built to the 900 acres of Crown Hill which had just been purchased by the Land company.
