Metropolis Fritz Lang UK / 1997-2003 / Cinema Posters / Heinz Schulz-Neudamm / 211x93 Large lithograph recreation of the cult classic German movie poster for the expressionist science fiction film Metropolis released in 1927, directed by Fritz Lang with music by Gottfried Huppertz, and starring Brigitte Helm, Gustav Frohlich, Alfred Abel and Rudolf Klein-Rogge. Originally issued for the sci-fi film's Berlin release on 10 January 1927, this three sheet poster by Heinz Schulz Neudamm (1899-1969) features the classic futuristic Art Deco style image of Rotwang's robot looking out to the viewer in front of skyscrapers in the utopian city of Metropolis with the title above in stylised letters and the credit text below. A rare copy of the original 1927 poster was the most expensive poster sold at $1,200,000. This poster is one of the large size multi-piece posters printed in three sections by the S2 Art Group in 1997-2003 (the company uses refurbished 100 year old lithograph presses and creates stone slabs to print near perfect replicas of classic movie posters, printed in exactly the same way the original posters were printed). Large size. Printed in three parts on thick paper. Excellent condition.
