Historics at Brooklands / Mercedes Benz World 28th November 2015 Car - 28/11/2015 / 1966 Ford Mustang Notchback / Lot 309
The Ford Mustang is an American icon and was originally based on the Ford Falcon compact. The first production Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan on 9th March 1964 and was introduced to the public at the New York World's Fair on 17th April 1964. It was, and remains, one of the most successful product launches in automotive history. The Mustang sold over one million units in its first 18 months on the market and its legend lives on with revised models still in production today after 50 years. With each revision, the Mustang saw an increase in overall dimensions and in engine power. Originally manufactured in San Diego, this superb Mustang was imported into the UK on 4th December 2014 by the vendor who has thoroughly enjoyed using the vehicle and is only selling her due to lack of suitable storage space. The previous owner was Arnold Marks, a Mustang specialist in Los Angeles, who, together with his team, restored the car to a very high standard to form part of his own collection. Without doubt this is one of the best 1966 Mustang coupés we have seen; the Nightmist blue coachwork is a colour that really suits the car and has great depth to the paintwork, the matching blue interior is unmarked and has been restored to a very high standard. This is also a very well sorted example mechanically with a 289 (4735cc) Windsor V8 engine mated to a three speed automatic gearbox. This Mustang really does have to be seen to be fully appreciated and comes supplied with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 12th February 2016. With Ford Mustang's in high demand, this stunning coupé is sure to attract significant interest.
