Historics at Brooklands / Brooklands Museum 12th March 2016 Cars - 12/03/2016 / 1974 Ford Granada Mk. I GXL (3 Litre) / Lot 200
The first generation model was produced from 1972 to 1976 at Ford's German factory in Cologne and at its British factory in Dagenham. The March 1972 released Granada succeeded the British Ford Zephyr as Ford's European executive car offering. The car soon became popular for police usage due to its considerable power output. The initial range used the Ford Essex V4 unit in 2.0 L displacement, and the Essex V6 engine in 2.5L and 3L capacities.
First registered on the 1st June 1974, this unusually good example has been kept by enthusiasts over recent years. Indeed it is rare to find such an example in fully restored condition and it should be noted that the previous owner has confirmed the extraordinarily low mileage. This is believed to be genuine although no paperwork exists to confirm this.
A full one year MoT test certificate will accompany this GXL of which it is thought that there are fewer than three licensed in the UK and approximately eight registered as SORN. A rare example indeed.
