Historics at Brooklands / Brooklands Motor Museum 29th August 2015 Cars - 29/08/2015 / 2007 Bentley Arnage T Mulliner II *WITHDRAWN* / Lot 291
Not only is the Arnage T more expensive and more powerful than its predecessor, the Arnage Green and Red Label models, but it also claimed the title of world's fastest saloon, as it needs all but the last two spots on its 170mph speedometer. The Arnage T is powered by yet another version of the 6.75 litre Rolls-Royce, V8 engine whose roots go back to 1959. Treated to what Bentley described as 'the most thorough re-engineering of its life', the 2007 model year cars produced a staggering 500bhp. This prodigious output, besides enabling this Bentley to reach 168mph, also sent it from 0 to 60mph in 5.2 seconds; the engine's most significant change being the switch from a single turbocharger to one for each bank of cylinders. Other changes included the adoption of a 'drive-by-wire' throttle to go hand-in-glove with Bosch's Electronic Stability Program which replaced the Red Label's traction control, but what really gives this nearly three-ton car its immense poise is a revised suspension that features 57 percent more roll stiffness than the Red Label. The car's basic structure is also 10% stiffer which means there are no creaks and squeaks of the sort that distinguished previous generations of Bentleys. This Bentley was originally registered on 4th April 2007 and is a splendid example of what can only be described as a stunning vehicle. The metallic black coachwork is in virtually unmarked order and the sumptuous magnolia leather trim epitomises everything great about this prestigious marque. Whether it is the deep rich walnut or the Bentley logo stitched into the headrests that catch your eye, this Arnage T is not only a stunning car to look at, the performance of this 500 bhp Bentley is astonishing given the style, comfort and luxury that this car offers. Having been recently serviced and benefitting from a recent set of tyres, LJ56LZT is supplied with a V5 registration document, history file and a current MoT test certificate valid until 7th May 2016. This Mulliner level II specification Bentley is a delight to travel in and even better to drive.
