1933 Joe DiMaggio Original Photograph Used for 1935 Pebble Beach Clothiers Postcard, PSA/DNA Type 1. If the image looks familiar to you, there's a good reason for that. This is the exact shot that was used in the Pacific Coast League set of postcards issued by Pebble Beach Clothiers in 1935, the earliest trading card of any style to feature the illustrious Yankee Clipper. However, the discovery of a different example of this image with a paper caption dating to July 12, 1933 carries us back to the very first season of DiMaggio's professional career as an eighteen-year old phenom for his local San Francisco Seals. It was on that day that he tied the PCL hit streak record at forty-nine, en route to an eventual sixty-one. This spectacular Type 1 print of the image is printed to 8x10" dimensions, presenting with only the lightest wear to the white borders to diverge from perfection. Back is blank. Unquestionably one of the most significant DiMaggio images in the hobby. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Type 1.
